Are You a Creative AND a Reader? (Monthly Wrap-Up)

BREAKING NEWS. Kenzie has an announcement to make so grab yourself a slice of pizza and sit back, this will only take a moment.

Thanks, Bob.

Today I want to tell y'all about some cool projects that are going around in the fabulous world of what is known as the internet (aka the blogging world).

The Hardworking Creative

A few weeks ago, the lovely Hailey sent me a message about her new website and was wondering if I could help spread the news about it. AND YOU GUYS! I am so glad I was contacted about this because it sounds amazing.

I'm sure it's no surprise to hear that I am a creative person. I have been for as long as I could remember and, personally, my outlook on life is to do something that you love doing or else... what's the point?

But some people don't understand that with creativity comes A LOT OF WORK, YO. If you ever sacrificed your sleep to do something that you love (aka your creative desire) then clap your hands. Clap, clap!

As you probably know, I run an Etsy shop. I'm still #new to the whole entrepreneur thing, so my continuous journey has and does consist of trial and error (and a lot of it). Sometimes I wish that I had a little more guidance, you know? Because it can be scary (and I can be lazy and impatient but we won't talk about that right now). BUT THAT'S WHERE THE HARDWORKING CREATIVE COMES IN.

This website was created by a creator and focuses on the nitty-gritty stuff that no one really talks about as a creative entrepreneur. It will also feature interviews with fellow creators as well as tips on how to pursue your dream.

I'm not just saying this when I tell you that YOU REALLY NEED TO CHECK THIS OUT BECAUSE I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT. I feel like it's going to be very helpful for a lot of young creators (you) and even for myself. (*is (im)patiently waiting for this website to get started*)

Coffee & Wisdom Book Club

Another opportunity was offered to me when the lovely Nicole messaged me about starting her own book club and was like: "lol i see you like books want to be in my book club" (not her words exactly but it basically sums everything up.) And after some thinking (because it was a busy week and I was #overwhelmed) I decided that I just couldn't pass this up so I was like: "HECK YEAH, SIGN ME UP."

And so I did.

I am now a fellow admin for Coffee & Wisdom Book Club! Wassssup!

And you can be a fellow admin as well! Signing up takes, like, two seconds and then you'll be added to the "Admins" page and you'll feel like a star.

But you don't have to sign up to be part of it. It's basically an online coffee shop where people sit around and drink coffee (or tea) all day while talking about books. To be honest, what gets any better than that?! So, stop in whenever you want. We can chat about poetry and why authors are evil monsters who destroy your soul.

You and I both know that sounds awesome so just click here.

Now I shall reflect upon what happened during the month of February. Which, to be honest, isn't going to be a lot because this past month was really short and, well, basically a test trial for all the months ahead.

10 Romantic Reads That Will Leave You Squealing For More + PRETTY BOOKISH PHOTOS

What I read

Batgirl Vol. 1: Batgirl of Burnside

I loved reading this because it felt like I was watching a Saturday morning cartoon about a girl in college.

The Dangerous Art of Blending In by Angelo Surmelis

I love this book with all my heart and soul. You can read my review here. I will probably never shut up about it. That's all you need to know.

And I am currently reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell again and I am not ashamed. (You can follow along with my comical and fangirly commentary through my Goodreads updates. ;))

What I watched

Black Panther

You guys. This movie was so amazing. I haven't seen a movie this good since Wonder Woman...? Basically, it is so worth the hype and you should go see it AND TAKE ME WITH YOU BECAUSE I WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN.

Now, don't hit me... but I have also been watching a little reality tv. o-o I know. I hate reality tv. But it's, like, hard to look away when your siblings are watching it right in front of you? I'm not much of a tv watcher but if someone is watching something in the same room as me, of course I'm going to peek over and see what's going on.

Plus, I can now confirm that The Selection is just like The Bachelor but with less runny mascara.

What I listened to

Simon's playlist (from Love, Simon aka Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda)

He's a Christain rapper and you all need to listen to him ASAP. ...please?

Khalid (especially Love Lies for the Love, Simon movie)

I love him.

All The Stars (with SZA)

My music taste hasn't changed since the previous months so there's not much to note on that. Once I like something, I'm probably going to listen to it non-stop until something else comes along the way.

What I wrote

I'm currently working on a new project so all my other writing projects have been put on the back burner for now.

I'm not going to say much but I will tell you that it is a short story and I might share a sneak peek with you soon. Would you be interested in that? Smile for yes and smile for no because mwuahaha you don't really have a choice.

What's in the up and up

I mostly spent the last month making valentine's and working on college things. I wrote a short writing piece for one of my college application and I would actually love for you to read it. It's about people's passions and how (for example) writing a book takes as much time and effort as it does to be an athlete.

If you look up you can see that I no longer have a .blogspot url. Yes, sir, I actually have a url with a .com at the end of it! I FEEL SO IMPORTANT NOW. And it was long overdue considering that my old url was... *laughs nervously* Let's not talk about it.

How was your February? Was it productive enough to be considered a real month or was it a trial month for you as well? ARE YOU EXCITED FOR THIS NEW CREATIVE WEBSITE AS MUCH AS I AM? Or maybe you're interested in joining the Coffee & Wisdom book club?!  WHAT DOES YOUR MARCH LOOK LIKE? I've decided to take my projects one at a time... I feel like it will help me get more done. But we shall see how this goes for me in the following month.

  2. Ahh so exciting! I'll have to check out the book club! I actually got a lot of reading done in February, so I'm pretty pleased about that. March is going to be the last big push for school until it starts to die away before I graduate, so that's exciting too!

    1. Ahhh, I am so jealous of you! For some reason, February was a slower reading month for me? Maybe because of schoolwork and valentine's and whatnot. I am hoping March will be different but we shall see. I think that is a great idea! I hope you have a lovely month, Hanne! <3

      Thanks so much for reading!

      xx Kenzie

  3. Wow, thank you so much for featuring Coffee and Wisdom!! I'm so excited to get it officially up and running and I can't wait to start discussing BOOKS! Like I said a million times before, I'm eternally thankful that you're part of the team :D

February, although my birthday month, was the month of procrastination. However, this upcoming month I will try to be at least 3 steps ahead! But, with International Women's Day coming up, I want this month to be kickass! I can't wait for March to unfold!!

    1. YOU ARE THE SWEETEST, OH MY WORD. <3 I can't thank you enough for allowing me to join and for creating this wonderful community for readers. :)

YES! I totally know what you mean about February being the month of procrastination. Happy belated birthday! :) I can't wait for what Coffee and Wisdom will have to offer this month!

Thank you so much for reading and for being amazing! <3

  4. oooo both those projects sound vv exciting!! I always have lots of ideas but sometimes struggle to bring them to life, so I think the Hardworking Creative will be really interesting + helpful for me so thank you for sharing that<3

February was a *very* unproductive month for me - I watched all 10 seasons of Friends for the first time just in Feb alone, so I'm sure you can imagine I didn't get much else done; when I sat down to write my February Recap, at first I literally couldn't think of anything to write about, except Friends (whoops!!)

    1. Ugh, I totally know what you mean! It happens to me all the time... thankfully there are some amazing bloggers out there who are willing to help me put those thoughts and ideas into action. I hope The Hardworking Creative will help you with that! I'm sure it is going to be a big lifesaver.

UMMM... To be honest, that sounds amazing. And I think it is important to take a break and rest from everything for a little while. :) I may have to do the same...

Thank you so much for reading! I love hearing from you. <3

  5. Loved reading this! And congrats on the url!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a message, it truly means a lot to me. I try my best to respond to each and every one of them, so come back and let's have a conversation.
