Does anyone else ever get this feeling of pure joy while talking about books? I KNOW I DO. A nice book chat gives me the best feeling in the world and just makes my day 1000000x better. So, that's exactly what we are going to do now! But first, I want to make a special announcement!
The Paper Pizza shop is back!
I have re-opened my Etsy shop and eeeep, I am so excited for you all to see what I made. ~(o-o)~ I feel like these bookmarks are a lot better than my previous inventory because:
1. They are laminated
2. They are colorful
3. They are *insert masculine voice* aesthetically pleasing.
At least, I think so. Tell me what you think!
At least, I think so. Tell me what you think!
But that's not all!
If you sign up for my newsletter (bottom of page) you can get 10% off your order! Wow, doesn't that sound cool?? (I'm not good at this whole spokesperson thing so go easy on me.)
If you want to see up close details of the bookmarks you can visit my shop or follow my shop's instagram. I hope you enjoy what I have for you and COMMENT BELOW WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE. I like the pizza one and the oreo one (because Simon Vs. <3). Oh, and the Little Women inspired one! GAH, I CAN'T CHOOSE.
okay, hehe, back to the post.
WHAT I READ IN 2017
I was able to reach my goodreads challenge for the first time! Which I am super pumped about, even though it was only for 30 books. But hey, every achievement is amazing, no matter how big or small.
So, I thought I'd show you (almost*) all the books I read over the year! Shall we?
*I read some from the library and others were eBooks so that is why not all books are pictured
To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han
Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Of course, these were all re-reads because I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF ALRIGHT?! Well, technically I read all the other To All The Boys books again (it was my third time. hehe.) because the last one was coming out (I cried) and then I read Everything, Everything again because of the movie WHICH, BY THE WAY, WAS PERFECTION. (I know some of you wanted to know my opinion on it and I just wanted to say that I loved it. <3)
The Summer That Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel
This book really surprised me and THE AUTHOR IS THE SWEETEST.
The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight by Jennifer E Smith
The Hating Game by Sally Throne
Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda
The cutest book I have read since Everything, Everything. I'm so, so excited for the movie! <3
Turtles All The Way Down by John Green
I feel like everyone needs to read this book.
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Page
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
I cried and took pictures to send to my sister. I apologize if you saw them on her snap story. I'm an ugly cryer.
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
You guys, this book was amazing. The events in the book all take place in one day, which I've never been a fan of BUT IT WAS SO GOOD, I DID NOT MIND AT ALL. I feel like those who disliked Everything, Everything would like this a lot more because it really focused on realistic problems that happen everyday. (I love both books equally but this blew me away.) Nicola Yoon is definitely one of my favorite authors. She is so creative with her stories and ahh. I love her. o-o ALSO; I READ THIS BOOK LIKE IT WAS A MOVIE SO I AM TOTALLY NOT SURPRISED IT IS GOING TO BE TURNED INTO ONE.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
I predicted the ending.
We Are Okay by Nina LaCour
I spent the day with Nina and she was so sweet. <3 I can't wait to read her other books. But can we talk about this ending for a second??
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
ALL!! OF!! THESE!! BOOKS!! I CAN'T.
Get Happy! by Dr. Anthony Gunn
I really loved this. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something that will 1. change your life, and 2. make you happy! I got it from Anthropologie for my birthday and it was... very overpriced. So, I suggest looking online for another copy. BUT THE YELLOW COVER IS JUST SO CUTE, AM I RIGHT? But Kenzie, they can only see the spine. Shh, don't speak. Just marvel.
Whiskey Words & a Shovel Volume 1 and 11 by R.H. Sin
I've never read poetry books before but these are my sister's and I picked them up to boost my book count. I actually really loved R.H. Sin's poetry. Sometimes I have mixed feelings on modern poetry because it's a lot like the textposts I see all over the internet and sometimes it just all seems the same? I feel like in order to like the poetry book, you have to relate to it. I think that is why I enjoyed R.H. Sin's poetry a little more than Amanda Lovelace's because I related to it. Who else has the same thoughts as I?
The Forbidden Bestsellers of Pre-Revolutionary France by Robert Darnton
I had to read this for school but it wasn't what I was expecting. It was a lot more... boring. I actually didn't finish the entire ending because it was snippets out of forbidden reads from that time and I had basically already read them at the beginning of the book. Hence: It was a school book.
The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace
Note to Self by Connor Franta
THIS!! BOOK!! I love Connor Franta so much. <3 I felt like this book was written from my thoughts and feelings and ahhh. It was like the book version of me. If that makes sense?
Runaways #1 and #2 by Rainbow Rowell
I have an undying love for Rainbow Rowell so OF COURSE I HAVE TO READ ALL HER BOOKS (even though I've only read 3, not including comics).
But when I heard that she was writting a comic series, I thought it was really cool because my brother reads comics, so he was also the reason why I picked up comic books for the first time this year.
Not pictured...
Runaways Volume 1 and 2 by Brian K. Vaughan
My brother made me read these before I read the ones by Rainbow Rowell.
This Year You Write Your Novel by Walter Mosely
Infiltration by Anna McAuley
I LOVE HAVING AUTHOR FRIENDS. <3 I was a beta reader for both this book and the first book in the Continuing Forever Trilogy. Over the summer, Anna had a giveaway and I WAS ABLE TO MAKE CUSTUME BOOKMARKS FOR HER. Thank you for choosing me, Anna! :')
The Blood Race by K.A. Emmons
ANOTHER LOVELY AUTHOR FRIEND WHO FLIPPING BLEW ME AWAY WITH THIS BOOK!! I am literally itching for book two. Plus, the cover is GORGEOUS. For both books.
Now... For the good stuff.
EEEEEPPP THESE ARE LE BOOKS I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS! ^-^ For 6 of them, I got an amazing deal on. (2 were from my brother.) So, quick story: I found out that BookOutlet was having a huge sale for Cyber Monday so my sister and I put an order together at 2am and WE GOT THE BEST DEAL EVAH. The books we picked out were no more than $5. They're not in perfect condition but I don't care (even though one looks like it may or may not have been part of a crime scene o-o).
Sorry. I just like bragging about deals. >.< Anywho!
WHAT I AM PLANNING ON READING IN THE NEW YEAR
Here are all the books I really want to read this year. Many of which include books that I got for Christmas last year. So, I'm making it a goal to finally tackle them. It's not that I don't want to read them I DO, I REALLY DO! But, you know, time got the best of me and, let's be honest... It takes a while to read Cassandra Clare and Sarah J. Maas books. o-o
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare
Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare
Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Carve The Mark by Veronica Roth
Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Cinder by Merissa Myer
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
The Heir by Kiera Cass
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
And then whatever ones come my way and distract me from those. o-o

OKAY THOSE BOOKMARKS ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!
ReplyDeleteI've actually been wanting to do that. I've been wanting to start a business with bookmarks and since you are so good at it, would you mind me asking for some tips on how you did them and how you laminated them?

EEEEEPPP THANK YOU SO MUCH, IVIE!!! <3
DeleteOh gosh, you've got me all blushy. <3 ^-^ Thank you for your kind words. They truly mean a lot to me. And we already chatted about this via email but just in case anyone else is wondering... I laminated them with a cheap laminating machine and... yeah. That's about it. It takes really quick to do it and it makes the quality of your bookmarks that much better. ;)
I hope I helped! Thank you so much for reading. <3
xx Kenzie
Aw your bookmarks are so cute! And I loved reading all about your reading year! I have a feeling that 2018 is going to be a great year for all the books and reading!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH, HANNAH! I am so glad you enjoyed the post- I just love talking about books. o-o I have a feeling it's going to be a great reading year as well! ^-^

KENZIE M'DEAR *snap snap* I WISH I HAD MONEY TO SPEND BECAUSE I WOULD BUY YOUR BOOKMARKS. *sobs loudly*
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I'm going to read Everything, Everything. A part of me kind of worries it's not my thing, but I have to read it for my book competition coming up soon. Also, tell me how Game of Thrones goes? I remember wanting to read it, but I know there's a whole ton of graphic stuff and while my stomach can handle a ton of beheadings (usually) it may be too intense? I don't know. We'll see!

ABIGAIL! MY DEAR, GLORIOUS, WONDERFUL FRIEND!! <3 NO NEED TO CRY! I WILL HAVE PLENTY OF (free) BOOKMARKS TO SEND YOU ONCE YOU GET YOUR PO BOX. ;)
DeleteEeeeepppp, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I honestly loved it so much. <3 I understand your worries- it is very insta-lovey which most people have complained about... but I think it's just the cutest thing ever. You know, I feel like The Sun is Also a Star is more your thing. I can totally see you devouring that book. Also; I will definitely keep you updated on Game of Thrones! I actually never intended to read the books, maybe only in the future, but now that I've got the first book... I am very excited. And I am totally with you on the whole graphic stuff. o-o I heard it's graphic too but hopefully I'll be okay. I'm better at reading graphic stuff than watching it- I *hate* watching it. Ew.
Thank you for stopping by, my dear! <3

I've only read two of these titles, wow I'm so behind.
ReplyDeleteFunny that you'd make this post just after I finished adding up all the books I loved from 2017. I hit 34 - that's 34 books that I will probably read again. Wow. I think 2017 was the best reading year I've had in a long time.
Here's just a couple favorites.
- My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier (also made into a movie this year. the prose is so beautiful and layered)
- The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp (the best book on creativity, hands down)
- March by Geraldine Brooks (you should read this one after you finish Little Woman. trust me)
- The Scorpio Races (a very unusual story, but so so good)
cheers.
k.
p.s. Those bookmarks are BEAUTIFUL.
Don't worry sweetie, I feel you. <3
DeleteWOW, OH MY GOSH, THAT IS AMAZING. Congrats, girly! And I have heard about My Cousin Rachel but I don't know what it's about! I am definitely adding these to my to-read list ASAP. I love getting recommendations. <3
I hope you are having a wonderful new year! Thank you so much for stopping by. <3
