Cheers! To Another Year (Monthly Wrap-Up)

Another year has gone and passed, and thank. goodness. Don't get me wrong, I get all choked up at the end of every year because I am #sentimental and #sensitive. But this year was not the fondest, and I can't wait for it to be over.

Nonetheless, even the worst years have their perks. Usually, at the end of the month, I reflect upon what those past few weeks have brought me, but in this post, I am going to highlight the best moments of this past year. Let's get to it, shall we?

(While writing this post, I am currently listening to the Blogger Yearbook's playlist and it eez lit, my friend.)

2017 HIGHLIGHTS

January - March

- I got bangs! They grew out but I'm still debating on whether or not I want to get them again.

- I cried to the Everything, Everything trailer. (There is picture proof.)

- I was offered into an honors society. After accepting, there was a very awkward award ceremony where I had to awkwardly walk on stage in big awkward heels and awkwardly shake strangers' hands. It was awkward.

April - June

- I saw Everything, Everything in theaters and flailed.

- I volunteered for the third time at our Teen Book Festival, where I was able to spend the day with the lovely Nina LaCour (she gives the best hugs) and meet THE Sarah J. Maas. Her husband(?) complimented me on my washi tape. #whyislifesogood

July - September

- I made the big change of saying goodbye to think. eat. write. read. and hello to Paper Pizza!

- I was a beta reader for my lovely friend, Anna. Who published her second installment to the Continuing Forever Trilogy in July! Whoo!

- I was also given the amazing opportunity to take part in the blog tour for Kate's book, The Blood Race. And let me just say- the book is flipping awesome.

- I won a book giveaway on Annaish then had the amazing privilege of reading and interviewing the author of The Summer That Melted Everything

- My online college classes started in September and I took my first ever English course! And... well... it was aggravating. Some professors just... ugh. You feel?

 October - December

- I finally opened my Etsy shop and was able to sell almost all my inventory (which wasn't much but still)! But be on the look for some goodies that will be added shortly. ;)

- I helped introduce Ravenquill Press to the world and we started our very first book club

- I WROTE THE FIRST DRAFT OF MY FIRST BOOK AND WON NANOWRIMO!

- I received some amazing gifts from my beautiful internet friends and WOWOW HOW BLESSED I AM TO HAVE SUCH BEAUTIFUL SOULS IN MY LIFE. <3

- I completed my Goodreads challenge! It was a struggle towards the end but I was able to meet my goal for the first time, which I am very happy about (even though it wasn't much).

- CHRISTMAS PREPARATION WAS AMAZING! I was able to bake bake bake until I couldn't feel my legs. There was so much snow around me and I couldn't have been happier. I also got DOC MARTENS FOR CHRISTMAS (wut). *cries for days* I got a few other things, including BOOKS. Which I will talk about in another post. ;)

All in all...

It was a pretty good year, especially in certain parts. I feel like I grew closer to my siblings and was able to bond with them a lot. I was much more motivated and productive, and I tried to accomplish the goals I had set for myself. I'm actually proud for taking leaps and pushing myself. In the new year, I'm going to be doing the same, except with... more. *fingers crossed*
I feel as though I have changed a lot over the course of 12 months, especially at the end of the year. I also feel like I have really found myself and who I am as an individual. I had someone, and for a while, I was this person who wasn't herself without them. Does that make sense? Don't get me wrong, that's not necessarily a bad thing... but when they left me, I honestly did not know who I was and it was scary. But now... Now it's like I can finally see myself as my own person.

Also; I really grew as a blogger this year and it makes me SO HAPPY. Along with that, I made so many new (blogger) friends! And built on my already made friendships. I now feel as though I am part of a community and that is a feeling I have always dreamt of. <3 So, thank you. Thank you to everyone who has helped me and supported me and made me smile stupidly at my phone. You guys are the cheese to my oh-so-tasty crust.

The year is over and you know what that means...

Until next time,

TALK TO ME!

How was your 2k17? What were some of the good moments you had? What are you mostly looking forward to in the new year? ARE YOU PLANNING ON READING BOOKS THE SIZE OF THE BIBLE? Or are you going to be writing all the words? Or maybe your goal is to smile more? All of those sound amazing, to be honest. SO LET ME KNOW!

pea ees: special thanks to my sisters (one not pictured) for doing this photoshoot with me. <3

  1. You saw Everything, Everything?!? How was it? (need your official opinion, please).
These photos are so adorable, and you are beautiful, Kenzie. Gosh, I wish I lived where it snowed.
And that camera…I have to ask: is it a S4000? I looks a lot like the one I used to have.

    So…my 2017 was:
    - learning and growing in so many ways
    - starting a blog + making internet friends (yippee!)
    - not quite "winning" NaNoWriMo, but writing 40k words was the most I'd done in a long, long time

I hope 2018 is still going to bring lessons and growth. Particularly in the areas that I NEED to grow in, you know, the areas I don't really enjoy. Things like consistency and time-management. <<< those things I suck at more than most people, ha.

    hope your 2018 is amazing
    k.

    1. Hi, Keira!

YES MA'AM! And it was... AMAZING. It was so creative and true to the book, and Nick Robinson was... *swoons* You hereby have my official opinion/approval! ;)
*blushes* Awww shucks, thank you so much, Keira. <3 I must say, I really love the snow, but I hate it when it gets all mushy, brown, and icky. >.<
And as for the camera... wow, you are really good! It's actually a Fujifilm FinePix S4500! But you were close. ;) It's not the best camera, honestly. I usually take my iPhone over that because most of the time, the pictures come out fuzzy and the coloring is weird... But it didn't do so bad outside. I think it works better in bright lighting. XD

It sounds like you had a wonderful 2017! <3 I think you should be very proud, especially for participating in NaNo. I congratulate you, dear.

GIRL. DON'T WORRY, I AM WITH YOU ON THAT. Time-managing is my biggest flaw and I am seriously just THE worst at it. So trust me, you're not the only one. <3 I hope you have an amazing year and thank you so much for reading and commenting! I love hearing from you.

xx Keznie <-- wow. I just spelled my name wrong. 2018 is off to a great start, hm?

  2. I still haven't see Everything, Everything (what was your full opinion on it) and I don't know why?

Sounds like you had a good, fulfilled 2017 and you learnt a lot.. I hope your 2018 is just as, if not more, amazing (you deserve it!).

Also, this is a bit random and sorry if it sounds weird (I'm v awkward!) but something I want to do in 2018, is make lots of new, close blogger friends, and I was wondering if you'd wanna be friends:) (as you seem so lovely!!)

By the way, those photos are amazing - and you are so beautiful<3

Cheers, and I hope you have the best twenty-eighteen imaginable (I truly mean it)

    1. Hi, Lexie!

Oh my goodness, you must see it! I really loved it, so so much. I thought it was true to the book and just as creative as the book (because obviously a movie can't be just like the book). Whenever Maddy and Olly were texting, they made it as if they were together in their imagination and THEY WERE SO CUTE. The actors were amazing. And I'm not just saying it because I have a "crush" on Nick Robinson. Nope. No crush here. *quickly deletes Pinterest* Hehe, so yeah. I highly recommend it.

Awww, thank you so much, Lexie! I hope you have an even more amazing 2018. <3 And to answer your lovely, totally not weird, question: YES! I would absolutely love to be friends. <3 I am so flattered, thank you. ^-^

Thank you so much, dear! And thank you for reading. <3

  3. These photos are giving me life, yo. So beautiful and winter-y! Congrats on winning NaNo and launching Paper Pizza. :) AND THE DOC MARTENS! Those are seriously rad! 2017 was a pretty cool year, but 2018 is going to be such a wonderful new year, I can just feel it. Also, I can totally relate to the feeling of not knowing who you are without someone, or just struggling to get a sense of self. I think this year I really came into my own a little bit more and learned to celebrate my individuality. It is the best thing! I hope you have an epic 2018!! :)
