I Opened My Etsy Shop! (Monthly Wrap-Up)

Hello lovely people! This is going to be a quick post because, yes, I should actually be using the time and effort I am putting into this post in NaNoWriMo but... I'm not. So there's that.

Alas! October was a long month. It was full of warm weather and fall aesthetics. As you can see, I attempted to do an autumn theme for my Instagram.

I am not going to lie, I am pretty darn proud of it so you should be too. #justkidding #notreally #selfpromo

October goals accomplished: 3/5

So one of the goals I made in October was to get my shop up and running. Thus, I officially opened my Etsy shop! I also got three orders in, like, less than two weeks. I honestly cannot tell you how blessed I am to have so many amazing people on the interweb supporting me. Some days I just want to cry because WOW WHAT EVEN IS LIFE. I love you all so much and I can't even begin to describe how utterly beautiful you all are. Like #keepitup #youslay. I think November means I will have to get moving on with adding more things to the shop BECAUSE NOW I ONLY HAVE ONE ITEM LISTED WUT.

Another goal of mine was to prep my NaNo novel which I manage to do, like, five days before.

And then the next goal was to welcome Ravenquill Press to the world, which I did and you can read all about it in my previous post.

What I posted

What I watched

Stranger Things Season One

The word obsessed cannot even properly address how I feel about this show but it does portray the external expressions I make whenever I see something related to it. Also: Hopper is too good for this world.

What I read

Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

You guys. You guys. How do I even begin to describe to you how perfect this book was? I am thinking about doing a little review of it, what you be interested in that? Honestly, I just knew that John Green was the going to be perfect author to write a book on mental health and guess what? He portrayed it excellently

What I listened to

I recently started listening to John Green and Hank Green's podcasts called Dear Hank & John and AHHHH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I highly recommend listening to them. I've been listening to them while I am working on something or am feeling lonely. Yeah, so if you see me wearing headphones and giggling to myself, you'll know why.

What's in the up and up

Halloween has gone and passed. *sniffles* Now I can't say the word "spoopy" and have a justifiable reason to do so. *le sigh* But it's alright because my costume turned out pretty awesome. Can you guys guess who I went as?

I mean, it's pretty obvious I went as Jace. Can't you see that chiseled jaw and epic biceps? We're practically twins. (If you can't tell, my sarcasm is a bit dry and I went as Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and my brother went as Alec and my sister went as Izzy!)

In October, I realized that I had been having the habit of reaching for my phone almost constantly. For November, my goal is to reach for it less. Especially since NaNo is here, I am taking a partial hiatus from my phone/social media. It's what I need.

It's kind of my first time participating in NaNoWriMo as a solo bird. It is already four days in and all I've eaten is candy and wear pjs all day long. My word count is not large but it is acceptable, so we shall see how it goes. I'm working on a novel I've been wanting to write for 3 years now, so NaNo is kinda an excuse to finally get that novel written.

I'll see y'all in December

Since I am working on NaNo alone, you'll probably see a lot less of me. I mean, I'll pop in now and then from my little writing cave but only to use the bathroom, grab a slice of pizza, and drink some water so I don't get dehydrated. REMEMBER TO WATER YOURSELVES MY LITTLE WRITING PEEPS. Good luck, everyone.

I'll see you at the end of my very rough draft!

xx Kenzie

  2. I was wondering if Turtles All the Way Down was good or not. I haven't read a lot of his work, so I wasn't sure. I'll check it out now!

Yep. I'm doing NaNoWriMo. I feel like I've told that to a hundred different people in a hundred different places by now. But hey, it's a popular question, ya know?

As for staying motivated / inspired? Finding something that reminds you of whatever it is you're working on. Whether it be music, Pinterest boards, quotes or even a movie. Something that you can go back to when you need to remember why you're doing the thing. Something that makes you think "hey if they can work hard, I can too."

p.s. YES! Abbiee's post was amazing and inspiring and so so good.

    1. Hi, Keira!

Turtles All The Way Down is definitely one of my favorite John Green books. I would say that it is in between The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. I truly think it is one of his best works yet. I hope you do pick it up and if you do, please let me know how you like it! <3

Hehe, I feel you. XD Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the advice! It's very helpful. I've actually been doing that! looking through my pinterest board and listening to my playlist really helps keep me reminded as to why I want to write this story. :)

And yes, I agree! Abbie is awesome. <3 Thank you so much for reading!

  6. First of all, I just ran across your blog and can I just say I LOVE IT SO MUCH. A lot of people in some of my classes were obsessing over John Green's book and I guess it would probably be worth my time to read it. Also, your Halloween costume looks so good! Next year I need to go again even though I'm probably technically too old because I need to stop eating my sisters candy.
I just followed your blog and I can't wait to read more!

Thank you so much! It's going fairly well (for the word count anyhow). Pish posh, I'm sure it was fabulous. ;) But I totally know how you feel! I plotted my whole novel in my head but whenever I write it, it just doesn't seem like it is turning out quite as I had imagined it. *nervous chuckle* Oh well!
Thank you so much, Cait! And thank you for stopping by. <3
