Why is Autumn so Aesthetic? (Monthly Wrap-Up + Playlist)

Why is fall so aesthetically pleasing? Okay, I have a confession. I never liked fall. It always reminded me of grey, chilly Saturdays and staying inside doing nothing but counting the raindrops as they splat against the stones placed along the front sidewalk. #boring

BUT NOW I LOVE FALL AND YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY? Well, it's pretty obvious why but imma tell you anyways.

Why, Kenzie Darling, do you love autumn?

I'm so pleased you asked. I love autumn for various reasons. Even though I still don't like the transition of summer ending and the weather getting colder, once fall is here I LOVE IT.

I love the aesthetics

The colors- maroon, mustard yellow, and most importantly... BLACK BLACK BLACK. I don't care what you say, dear parents, black is an empowering color and I will wear it until it turns brown (which is my pet peeve). Also; now you have an excuse to wear black nail polish 25/8 (even though you can already do that).

I love the fashion

Basically, the reason why I love autumn. My favorite clothes are typically worn during fall time. I flipping love flannels, sweaters, boots, and black jeans. Like, yasss. I get so pumped when it is time to break out my fall-ish clothes.
I don't know if you know this about me but I really do love clothes. If you know me in person (aka see my snapchats) then you may think "Wow, she must really not care about fashion, like at all." or "Really? That shirt again?" YES, I KNOW I WEAR THE SAME THREE SHIRTS A WEEK. YES, I KNOW I NEED TO GO SHOPPING. IT'S JUST MY TASTE IS SO EXPENSIVE AND I NEED MONEY AND-*sobs in a corner for days*

But seriously. I really need to go shopping-- and I'm not just saying that because I want to buy stuff like I really need to do some freshening up in the wardrobe department. And, you know, buying new clothes really makes you feel good about yourself. SO WHY THE HECK SHOULD WE NOT FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES???

I'm actually thinking of changing up my style to wearing more skirts with tights and smarty looking glasses. You know, the big wire ones that look like your grandpa's. Yeah, those.

I don't know what it is about autumn that makes drinking coffee and reading so much more pleasing but it just does. Maybe it's because of those cozy Pinterest pictures you see that makes it so appealing. Drinking a pumpkin spice latte as we speak. Yeah, I'm that typical white girl who takes pictures of her Starbucks drinks.

The weather is probably my least favorite part of autumn, but it gives me the excuse to stay on my laptop 25/8 and wear flannels and sweaters and boots so yes.

Lately, the weather has been extremely nice. It's like summer hasn't even left. I have a sunburn on my face for Pete's sake! Yeah, so it's kind of hard to get excited to wear your combat boots when people still have flip flops on.

What else do I love? Candles pumpkins, twinkly lights, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...

Pumpkins, colorful leaves, Halloween, fall-inspired activities that involve wearing a jacket then taking it off because you get too hot are also reasons to love fall. I cannot wait to embrace every second of it, and I hope you do as well.

See yah later, Sepetember

Like I said, the weather has been extremely warm and I have a swimsuit tan, so it still feels like August. I wouldn't say that this was a very productive month but I still want to do a little recap.

Newfound Interests

I decided to pick up the ukulele at the beginning of September. I want to lie and tell you that I know how to play all these awesome songs but I'm not a lover of fibbing so... yeah. I haven't gotten far with learning how to play, considering it is the very first instrument I have ever picked up and tried learning. But! I am not giving it up right away. My goal is to try learning two songs that I can actually play without my finger catching onto the string. Fun flaw fact: I talk more than I do and it is an unhealthy habit I want to ditch.

Current Obsessions

My obsessions are usually everlasting, but there are moments when they become more apparent than others. These obsessions include the following:
- Old bookstores (I'm dying to visit NYC and London to explore every bookstore)
- Yellow Fjallraven Kanken backpacks (try to say that ten times fast)
- Doc Martens (always)
- Cozy book aesthetics like this
- Aesthetics like this and this and this

What I read

- Note to Self by Connor Franta

And boy. Dude. Bro. I am so glad that I read this book because it was amazing and I related to it 100%. Like, if you want to take a peek inside my soul, read this book.

- Runaways: The Complete Collection Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

This is what I am currently reading, and it's actually my first time reading a graphic novel. I picked it up because my brother made me and Rainbow Rowell just came up with her version of Runaways and I really want to read that after I'm finished with the other editions. (Guyyyyssss... I have an undying love for Rainbow Rowell.)

What I watched

- Wonder Woman (GAHHH FEELS! All the fighting scenes were bomb. Wonder Woman is, like, my new spirit animal/being.)

I also finished watching the Coven season of American Horror Story. I watch it with my brother and sister, it's like our bonding time. It's not my favorite show but... yeah.

What I listened to

Whenever I go on Spotify, I usually end up listening to the same songs/albums on repeat (at the moment: Vance Joy and Halsey). It's a habit I sorta need to break... But I did make a playlist of songs that are kind of getting me into the fall mood. I'm really bad at making playlists but I'll share with yah anyhow.

One of the songs on the playlist is 1-800-273-8255 by Logic ft. Alessia Cara and Khalid, and oh my gosh. When I listened to it for the first time, it just... boom. My heart. You know?

a field full of yellow-ness (it made my heart happy)

What I posted

What is in the up and up (aka life update)

So recently I found out that a fellow blogger (who has been a loyal follower of mine for, like, ever) lives less than an hour away from me! It's so crazy how I found out and makes me remember how small our world is. I've never met a blogger from the same state, let alone AREA, as me... so I thought it was worth mentioning. ^-^

Right now, in my English class, I am working on a personal essay. I don't know if it's my best work but it is on a topic/observation I was really passionate about. IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN READING IT? Lemme know. ;)

I also had a mini personality crisis because, for a little bit now, I have been feeling like "wow, am I really an INFJ?" After a couple freak out sessions, I reminded myself that I relate 100% to anything and everything INFJ, so I shouldn't worry, right? After some research, I've realized that I also relate to some ISFJ things, and that was the first personality type I was typed with when I took the test. This caused another freak out session along with another one because I've been experiencing some extroverted traits. BUT HAVE NO FEAR! I just realized that I am an extroverted introvert. Okay, cool. Everything's fine. Rant over. I'm still an INFJ with a big ol' dash of Kenzie. (*sighs over my INFJ 's contradicting-ness*)

OH! OH! AND THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE AN UPCOMING PROJECT I AM VERY EXCITED TO START WORKING ON. Hint: It is a collaboration and is very emo. I cannot wait for it to get started so I can share it with you.

Bullet journaling

Towards the end of September, I really started slacking in the bullet journal department. I forgot to add things, keep track of certain habits, rely on each week's spread, etc. Which is quite disappointing because I really love bullet journaling. I think for October, I'm going to change up my spreads and really figure out what is more effective for me as well as goals I want to accomplish. Does anyone have any October spread ideas?

Comment "pumpkin head" if you made it to the end!

Thanks so much for reading this rather hectic post... It always means the world to me. <3

I love pumpkin waffles, pancakes, pie, but I don't drink coffee so no pumpkin lattes for me. Oh, and Pumpkin Life Cereal is a thing. :D
Great post! Have a wonderful October! <3

    1. WHAT? PUMPKIN LIFE CEREAL?? I had no idea that existed. o-o I'm not much of a fan of all things pumpkin (aside from the psl) because one time, I had this pumpkin cheesecake and my stomach got upset after so now I can't really eat pumpkin related things... True story, bro.

You too! Thank you so much for reading and always commenting, Ivie. :)

      xx Kenzie

  2. I'm an INFJ too! This post made me SO PUMPED for fall... today is the first day that it's been below 80 degrees here. I walked outside in flip flops this morning and then it was freezing, which made me HAPPY.

    1. YAYY! Hello, fellow INFJ! EEEEP, I am so happy to hear that this post got you in the fall spirit. ^-^ Lucky for you! The weather has been crazy here lately, it's hot one second then cold and rainy the next. I can't cope. XD

Thank you so much for reading!

      xx Kenzie

  3. same!! I'm an INFJ and then I recently took the test and now I'm an ISFJ ???? apparently I'm no longer 88% introverted, but only 55%. basically I became more extroverted this summer?? xD

also, your bullet journal is just so cute <33

    1. I FEEL YOUR CONFUSION. I saw this post on Pinterest that said INFJs are the closest thing to being extroverted, but then my friend, who studies MBTI personalities, said that ISFJs are more extroverted... Honestly, I think if you relate more to a certain type you are that type. Like, reading articles is so helpful if you're confused about your type. Tests are never accurate anyways. XD

Awww, thank you so much! <3 And thank you for reading and commenting. It makes my day!

      xx Kenzie
